LONDON (WISH) — The Colts beat the Commanders, 30-13, and move to 2-2 on the season.
The Colts started slow, with their first five drives resulting in either a punt (3) or a turnover (2). They then scored on four straight drives after that and cruised to the win in the second half.
“Very disappointed,” Colts head coach Steichen said. “Wasn’t up to our standard the way we played in the first quarter, especially offensively… I got to do a better job calling plays. We got to do a better job executing. There’s a lot of things that didn’t go our way there, but I was pleased with how the guys responded, obviously having the lead going into halftime and then coming out and ended up winning by three scores, which was big for our guys.”
Jonathan Taylor powered the Colts offensively, rushing for 95 yards and two touchdowns. He also set the record for most international touchdowns in NFL history in the victory.
Jones was responsible for both of the turnovers in the first half, one of which being a fumble and the other being an interception. The fumble set the Commanders up just outside the red zone and they got a field goal after the turnover.
“Definitely got to play better,” Jones said. “Got to clean that up. Can’t afford to turn the ball over like that. I think just got to focus in on the details, understand I can’t do it and make better decisions.”
The Colts defense got a turnover, two sacks, five tackles for loss, and limited the Commanders to just one touchdown. It was the second week in a row the Colts held an opponent to under 20 points.
The Colts will play the Steelers on the road next week. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 11.
